  1. You have my deepest sympathy.  Good luck with that!

  2. used to go with family almost every year- great place, like the people have said, blackgang chine is the place to take your kids- out side there is a GIANT model of a giant man- its massive!

  3. IOW is a great place for small kids, there are loads of places for them to go to, and it's pretty laid back for grown ups.

  4. Go to Carrisbrooke Castle, just outside of Newport. It's easy to lug the baby around and there's interesting things for the 10 year old. They have a donkey in a treadmill and walls to run around on.

Robin Hill park has activities such as a "toboggan flume" and safe archery etc. that should keep eldest and dad happy.

Avoid Godshill like the plague. It's a crowded ghastly place that seems to exist solely for coach parties and has no apparent core reason to exist.

Shanklin is good fun for everyone. Also there's a smashing place called Puckpool Park about a mile east of Ryde. You can walk along the beach or catch a land-train between the two.

The electric train from Ryde to Shanklin is a nice ride and it also connects with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. They have really ancient pre-war small coaches that the kids will find fascinating. You may even be allowed a signal box visit.

Along the "Military Road" that runs along the south west edge of the island you'll find Isle of Wight Pearl (better than it seems) and the Dinosaur Farm (see real paleontologists in captivity whilst they do their stuff to Dino fossils).

Try and make time for lunch at The Buddle. It's an old smugglers inn at St Catherine's. Full of atmosphere and good food. They also serve real ale.

From Ryde you should take a day trip to Porstmouth. There's a hovercraft that goes to Southsea (the 'posh' part of Portsmouth) or a catamaran to Portsmouth Harbour (the 'historic' part). See HMS Victory or go up the Spinnaker tower.

  5. whats the question? sounds nice anyway

  6. AND YOUR QUESTION IS?

  7. You will have a great time plenty to do on the isle of wight. Blackgang chine is must for children, the model village in Godshill, Robin Hill is good, there are the wax works in brading. these are just a few places, the beaches are great. Hope you have good weather.

  8. IOW is a good place for family holidays ( and to live). Still has some old english charm about it although it has many holiday makers. Makes you feel abroad without all the hassle.

    Have a great holiday.

PS no idea about caravan though or where it is on island.

  9. Platinum status sounds like your speaking in Time Share lingo.

  10. Go to Amazon World & Black Gang chine, they are amazing places & the kids as well as yourself will love it.

I love the Isle of wight!!
