Question:

2 year old daughter and sleep?!?!?!?

How much sleep should my 2 year old daughter get? Currently she goes to bed at 9:00pm and usually gets up at around 7:30am, that's if she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and sleep with me. Usually she isn't too bad in the mornings getting up, but my mum says that she sometimes gets a bit grumpy during the day and I don't know what she is like at daycare(I'm 16 and go to school). So how much time is ideal for her to sleep??

Thanks,

  1. I think 9 am is way too late. I didn't stay up til 9 pn til i was about 6 or 7

  2. I think that she is not getting enough sleep.

For a child at school they would be getting about the same amount of sleep and your daughter needs more sleep for her age.

Try sending her to bed an hour earlier.

If this doesn't work then maybe try waking her up a but later or giving her a nap in the day.

Sounds like your doing your best and trying to be a good mum though. :D

  3. her being in a bad mood probably doesn't have anything to do with sleep. have you ever heard of the 'terrible 2's'? shes 2 and little kids are usually a little difficult. but compared to my friends little siblings, it seems like you have it easy if shes just a bit grumpy. my friends siblings were nightmares, even now and they're both 7. but maybe try 8:00 bedtime instead of 9?

  4. My children have a set bedtime at 7:30-8 pm. They do get up a bit earlier, but I believe it's important to start an early schedule with them from day one (well after they outgrow that baby stage). I started my kids on a set schedule for bedtime around the age of 6 months. yes, she is getting enough sleep, but I honestly think she should be getting to bed earlier. Also with an earlier bedtime, you can squeeze in a nap for her, so she won't be as grumpy. =) GL!

  5. give her 10 - 12 hours. Those hours aren't bad but you could give her a bit more sleep [:
