  1. yes, seems to be normal. it may leave a small raised scar, but i dont think its anything to worry about. if you're really concerned just call the doc's office and speak to them, so you dont waste money and time for a doctor's visit. or wait till the next appt, whenever that's scheduled.

you can put some stretch mark cream on it, like women use after giving birth, it will sooth the skin and make it softer. and it may lower the raised area a bit, due to softening from the cream.

  2. this is not normal because when stitches come out they should not be touched because it is healing. If u have been touching it u may have been infecting it. U may want to take him back to the doctor.

  3. I would definitely take him back to the doctors - better safe than sorry.

  4. My son also had stitches on his face.  Each one of them (there were a few, he was attacked by a dog) was hard underneath as it healed.  His plastic surgeon said that it was scar tissue, and that it would soften over time.  He recommended a product called ScarFade.  We put it on twice a day, and massage it in to help soften the scar tissue. It has done wonders.  To see him now, just 5 months later, you wouldn't even know it happened.  The biggest and deepest of the scars still feels a little hard, but it's getting better.

Another thing to keep in mind is that sun exposure is very damaging to scars.  The plastic surgeon wanted us to put sunscreen on the scars religiously from the beginning.

Having said all this, you should speak to your son's Dr. about how things are going, because you can never be too safe when it comes to your child.  If he also believes that it's scar tissue, ask about the ScarFade. (Really, ask either way-it helps fade the scar over time also, it's not just for the hardness underneath.)  Good luck.  Believe me, I know how painful it is to see your child hurt, and to worry about scars (especially on his face).

    Here's a website for you:

    www.scarfade.com

  5. That is normal...it is scarring..it will fade as time goes on. My 12 year old daughter has one on her forehead from falling into a door hinge when she was 2

  6. if it is warm to the touch and red i would more the definatly take him. if their is drainage, take him asap. he could have and infection, and with his stitches so close to his eye this could spead there.  thats a hard spot to keep clean on top of it all, food, rubbing eyes, ect.  call your dr and make an appointment.
