2 year old will only go to sleep with mommy?

The only way i can get my 2 year old to sleep is laying with me on my bed, if i put her in her cot on her own she screams for hours and wont settlle, i have anouther baby due in 1 week and desperately need tips for getting her in her cot, ive tried the controlled crying thing, but failed and think its to late to try again, its to painful to hear her cry so i dont think thats an option.

Same here....drives me insane...she will not let anyone including my husband put her to sleep. She will never sleep at her grandmothers, so when my husband and I have a night out. My oldest daughter will stay and we have to pick up the younger one and come home at a decent hour because she has to go to bed. No matter how tired she is....she will not fall asleep without me..

welcome to my world............wish i had some advice but, i am in the same boat. I have an 8 year old daughter who sleeps on the floor next to our bed and a 2 year old son who sleeps in our bed.

You are going to have to suffer the pain of hearing her cry.  That is the ONLY way to do it.  Establish a pattern for bedtime.  Take your daughter into her room and cuddle and read a story (ONE story) then put your daughter in her bed.  Kiss her and tell her goodnight and that you love her.  Leave the room.  Your daughter will start crying - and you'll have to let her.  It will be painful and you'll probably start crying as well, but it will be so much better for the both of you in the long run. It's not mean and its not child abuse, it is discipline.  Unfortunately discipline is as tough on parents as it is on the child.  I promise that you won't scar your child for life. If your daughter gets out of bed, you need to put her back into bed with out speaking to her as you've already said your goodnights and have cuddled.  I feel for you - good luck.
