Ok my 2 yr old daughter developed a fever 2 days ago & it was 100.8 I gave her some tylenol and it came down to 99.4 so I gave her some more (when it was time for the next dose) then I checked it when she woke up the next morning and it was 100.5 so more tylenol. Then I checked her again after it was time for another dose to see if she needed it and it was 101.4 so more tylenol again, then that night I checked it at bed time and it was 102.5 so I was starting to get worried. Well I gave her another dose of tylenol and it came down to 101.3 after about 1 hour, then after another hour it was 99.5. Anyway, she didn't have any other symptoms. I asked her if her ears were hurting and she said no. She was crabby and cranky a little & her eyes were droopy (you could tell she didn't feel good) but that was it. No coughing or anything. She didn't have a fever this morning but I'm going to check her everyonce in a while to make sure. I was just curious if anyone had any thoughts on what it could have been... Thanks! =)

  1. I don't have any idea what could have caused it.  Has she been around anyone that was sick and didn't tell you?  Sometimes, kids can pick up something from someone in the store or from someone that is sick and don't know they are.

If her fever comes back I would take her in to see her doctor.  Or maybe it would be a good idea to call her nurse and tell her about her temperature and ask if you need to bring her in, anyway.

I would keep a check on her!  Good luck and I hope she gets over whatever it was causing her not to feel good.

I found this and copyied the main info, but it was too long to coyp all of it.  You can go here and read more about it.

For older kids, take behavior and activity level into account. Watching how your child behaves will give you a pretty good idea whether a minor illness is the cause or if your child should be seen by a doctor.

The illness is probably not serious if your child:

    is still interested in playing

    is eating and drinking well

is alert and smiling at you

    has a normal skin color

looks well when his or her temperature comes down

And don't worry too much about a child with a fever who doesn't want to eat. This is very common with infections that cause fever. For kids who still drink and urinate normally, not eating as much as usual is OK.

  2. well, i am not two years old, but in the spring i had allergies and didn't know it, so of course i wasn't taking any medicine.  i went to the doctor once and they said that it was probably just a cold.  but when my temperature got to 104, my mom took me in again, and they said it was a sinus infection.  it could very well be a sinus infection.

  3. Is she getting any new teeth? My son always had seemingly unexplained fevers when he cut new teeth.

Try not to give her too much tylenol, though... maybe a popsicle or something cold to chew on if it is her teeth...

Also sometimes when they have ear infections or whatever, they don't necessarily hurt and things like strep throat don\'t always make you cough. Maybe take her to a doctor.

  4. next time that happens i suggest you see a doctor  right away. i had a 100.2 temp. and everyone thought that was bad.  if it got much higher my mom would have brought me to the hospital, and my mom is not the kind of mom who brings you to the hospital for a little owie.

but yeah, tylenol and cool rags on the forehead.  probably just a fever of sorts

  5. did you just recently, within the last day or so get her vaccinated? A fever can sometimes be a side effect of vaccines.

  6. Usually a fever means there is some sort of infection present.  If her temp is normal now it might have resolved itself.  If I were you I would call her doctor and see what he/she recommends.
