My son started doing this months ago one day when he was nervous. Now he scratches his lower back/upper buttom anytime we take his clothes off. Its gotten to the point he is something bleeding and its always red now from it. It happens no where else. Could this be a nervous thing or just some odd habit he picked up? He gets mad when we make him stop. i have been putting neosporin on it every night, but no help.

  1. ok my 3 year old does that too! Has for forever!  Strange, I just thought i was her.  We just tell her to get her hand out of her butt! And I do watch it to see if she needs some neosporin.  Maybe try some lotion everyday if it actually is truly itchy.

  2. I think is just a habit he has picked up...My 19month old Sucks thumb,Pokes eyes,Pulls Eyelids, Scratches Crack Pulls on Labia Majora and Pokes her Belly Button.

    MY SOLUTION:

Thumb-Sucking: I Say Eww Everytime i see her with it and pull it out and she knows eww means something Yucky so that has been working for me.

Bellybutton Poking:  I Put on a Large Bandaid to Cover It and But on a Onesi.

Eye Poking/ & Eyelid Pulling:  I Will Be Buying Goggles Today Because it's getting Bad.

Butt Scratching/Labia Pulling: Every time i see her i just Take her hands off it.

My daughter too catches a Fit Everytime i stop her from doing any of her little habits  so I dont make it such a big deal before i do it.   I just simply start talking to her and goofing around  and just stop her from doing what she's doing.  With Out Puttign much attention.

No= Yes to my baby so i have 2 days not using it.  Unless she's putting a penny in her mouth and i have to fly across room..but if is not as serious as that i dont use it anymore i am going to see how that will work out for me... Maybe you should try.

When you see him scratching his butt throw a ball across floor and play with him.   Or just something he likes to play with!

Dont worry about it.  my doc said it was normal to pick up little habits like that.. but i am still going to try to stop it!
