20 quart univex mixer

We have just aquired this machine. The wire wisk does not reach the bottom of the bowl. Because of that it does not mix up mashed potatoes etc. very well. Is there some additional adjustment in the bowl height lever that I am not seeing or is there a piece missing to extend the wisk lower into the bowl.
