Question:

200 meter...Is this time good...?

I'm a 13 year old girl (14 in july) and I run the 200 meter race on my middle school track team. My best score so far has been 29.94. I have had no earlier training AT ALL and this is done without spikes, but with plain running shoes. Is this a good time? And are there any techniques I could work on? Tips would help! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  1. Sounds pretty decent to me.. you just have to compare yourself to your teammates and other people at track meets. No offense, but that sounds pretty average. However, you are 13.. you could get faster by the time you're on a varsity track team with some training.


  2. For a girl, that is extremely good. I'm not a 200 meter runner, I'm a 100 meter runner, and I know that your time is way off the charts. Try to get use to wearing spike, short shorts, and get used to running in rubber tracks. You will get better by a lot, and you are young, 13!!!

    Also, do some stretching exercises and loosen ure calve muscles

  3. That's a really good time for someone your age. When you get more and more training in that time will drop a lot.

  4. yessssss. girl, if you've never done track before and your getting that time imagine what will happen in a year or two ! try doing fartleks or pyramids to improve your time (training)

    fartleks - 1min on, 1min off, 1min on, 30sec off, 30 sec on, 30sec off

    - do this 3 times

    - on means running

    - off means jogging

    pyramids - you need the track. you can switch this up but usually you 200, 200, 200, 400, 400, 600, 400, 400, 200, 200, 200. try and get 'splits' or times from you coach.

  5. its an okay time for a starter, but it isnt the greatest

    if you want to continue, get spikes and run most days, work on your stamina and sprint times

    so go for a run most nights

    warm up (10 -15 min of jogging)

    sprint 400m

    jog

    sprint 200m

    jog

    and well yeah

  7. i think thats a decent time for a female of your age, not a first or second placer, but keep working at it, get a 26 or 27 at that age and your in the clear as a female

  8. Yes thats a good time! i get a better time but not by much and I HAVE HAD LOTS of practice! Congrats on a good time! NO WAIT GREAT! You can work on your time by stretching and running more often. I dont think you need it but anyways, hun your doing wonderful, dont let anyone tell you different!
