200 meter dash question?

I could use an opinion on a time I got last week in the 200m. A friend timed me and recorded a 22.97. I'm 14, and my previous best was 25.83, set in late May. I'm on the fence about this time, because though I have done some training, and I asked my friend repeatedly if he used the stopwatch correctly, it's a little hard to believe I posted that time in 3 short months.

  1. yeah its very possible that your time dropped that much, because in just a matte rof 2 track meets my time dropped from 25:36 to 23:24 and that was on acutrack so it didnt mess up.

just continue on training your speed and u will increase most likely each time.

  2. whats ur question?

  3. Well, you probably have marked the wrong distance or the stop-watch could be malfunctioning. Also if u werent in any shape the first time and now you have been training your time could be realistic.

I am also 14 and i have ran track for some years.I run the 200m dash in 23.04 and placed 1st in state in the 8th grade state track meet.

  4. dude thats really good, no way youre that good lol, the fastest people in my school score in the mid 24s....and im talking FASTEST people in my school

  5. u probably could of ran a 22.97. idk but i'm guessing that your friend didn't time you right and so its obvious that going from a 25.83 to a 22.97 is not really realistic i mean because I'm a track runner also, except I'm a senior and i run hurdles and my times in the past haven't dropped  that drastically. With the fact that i have fast times 15.0 in the 110 Meter Hurdles 2 years ago as a sophomore and as a junior ran 14.5. So, my guess you could a ran a probably(since you trained for 3 months) 23.2 or 23.3 i'm guessin. so good luck wit dat. and also reflect back on what your intensity level is on your weight training and conditioning because you probably gained alot a muscle weight and again depending on your intensity of how much you were lifting and drinking protein shakes and eating nutritiously.

  6. there is a good chance that he might have used the watch wrong. A jump from 25.83 to 22.97 is a big one especially for 3 months

just do it again and get like 2 or 3 ppl to time you.

  7. i doubt it, the stopwatch is prbly no good although i have seen somebodys time drop from around ur time to the low 23s after a year of training

  8. It might be a botched time, but the only way to find out is do it again or get on the track team or something.

  9. You might be another Usain Bolt.  He had a good timing like you.

  10. youl be shocked what a lil bit of training can do.

  11. that is fast, i have done the 200 in 31 seconds, that is a really fast time, keep training and you can get better
