Question:

2000 Dodge Durango 4x4 SLT clunking noise coming from inside engine at all times

So a clunking noise has developed in my Durango. It's a low pitched clunk that sounds about 5 or 6 times a second. It sounds like it may be a belt or fan issue but I think the sound is coming from the middle of the engine. It takes about 5-10 seconds for the noise to start once I start my car but it is steady after that. As I raise my RPM's the noise quickens and also gets slightly more faint. Thanks for any ideas!

  1. HAVE YOUR CATALITIC CONVERTOR CKD.

IT COULD ALSO BE A LIFTERWEARING DOWN,IFTHIS IS THE PROBLEM ,MOST OF THE TIME IT CAN BE ADJ.

  2. I think something got into your intake and is now in the cylinder housings or the cylinder valves. This could absolutely destroy your engine, so I would get it looked at immediately. Call a mechanic, or wherever it is that you bring to for maintenance. Especially since you said it gets higher with the rpm's.
