2000 Dodge Neon is jerking and dying??

Ok, I took my car in for a tune-up at wal-mart, and about a week later got gas at wal-mart b/c it was cheaper. After I got gas, my car started jerking while driving, I thought it was just bad gas, but 3 weeks later it is still doing it and also now is dying when I come to stops or when I first start the car. My engine light also stays on, but occasionally goes off & then comes back on when it jerks again. We did have a fuel injection cleaner done at wal-mart as well w/ the tune-up, so it can't be that, like someone had told me. Any ideas?? How do I figure it out? I am car-illiterate!! THANKS :)

  1. make sure all the plug wores are on good then make sureall the injector wires are plugged on good. look for any connectors not put on tight or any vacumn hoses off or leaking. if it worked good before it must be something they changed unless if it worked fine for the first week after it was fixed

  2. It sounds like you need a new fuel filter,or your sending unit (fuel pump)could be going bad.

  3. I bet you got rip off at wal-mart, I don't see there is much difference if you go to a good auto-repair shop. I had the 99 accord and I got it 4 years ago, I put lots of money to fix this and that, I end up to get a brand new Sienna and donate this S****y car. It's not worth it to fix it. Another problem will pop up after you fix the first one. Since the car has very low resale value, trade in and get a new one.

  4. Check the fuel pump, this what is sounds like.  It sounds like it going bad.  Also check the oxygen sensors, these little expensive things can make your car die all of a sudden.  But I really think it is the fuel pump.

  5. check throttle control sensor or mass air flow sensor
