2000 Ford Explorer Speakers?

So i don't know to much about cars. But my CD player broke in my 2000 ford explorer and i put a Alpine head unit in myself. Well 2 weeks later my speakers just blew. Well i think they blew, if i play music loud at all it just has this horendous sound like you are trying to listen to a radio station that isn't picking up. So I am guessing this means my speakers are blown? I looked up the sizes i need, but how hard is to replace the speakers, and what exactly will I have to do and the tools needed.

  1. i have a 99 explorer and and im looking to do the same thing.  FIRST you must take the door panel off(2 screws near door handle).  next take a flat head s***w driver and pull the actual door panel off.  there will be little plastic things holding the panel to the door all the way around.  they will come out but you will have to use some force pulling them apart. SECOND the speaker will be somewhat exposed.  there will be a speaker grill covering it.  take the screws out(cant remember what the screws are called but they either have 5 or 6 sides).  then take the speaker out put the new one in and replace the panel and your good to go.

    good luck
