2000 Ford Windstar car stereo smoking

Question

Hi my precious 2 year old stuffed pennies in my tape deck no problem I thought I never use the darn thing that was until mu unit started smoking! I got the smoking to stop and the screen said CALL. My husband tried to take the pennies out on the right side of the deck then the left side started smoking and he actually saw fire! He unplugged the unit and took out the fuses now I have no radio. Is it cheaper to fix or just buy a unit?
