I just purchased a 2000 Polaris Trail Boss 325 it is in perfect condition, clean and I really love how it rides! However, the heat light has been coming on and off and I don't know why. I checked the oil and that seems to be fine and so I think that it is eithere a sensor problem or an electric fan problem. To replace the fan is like $200 bucks so I just wanted to get some feed back on this before I go and spend the $ just to find out that wasn't the problem....

  1. here is what you do the fan will come on at idle sitting in the drive way, hold rpm up higher and get really hot if no fan check for your powers at the fan if one of the wires has power when really hot your sensor and wiring is good .follow the wire on the other side to check if it's got good ground.what you can also do is cut the wires and go straight to the battery with them that will tell you if the fan is any good.the sensor just closes to let power through if no power check on one side of the switch hot or cold it should be powered when hot check the other side
