the truck wont start on the first try after you drive it and try to start it again. It starts perfectly when you depress the gas pedal while its cranking.

i just changed the fuel pump...added fuel injector cleaner...fuel sys. cleaner and the after market air filter is clean.

I took it to two mechanics and they can't find anything. No engine check light or anything.

the truck has 121k miles...its well maintained ...show condition.

  1. Your problem is a fuel pressure regulator bleeding down (not holding pressure ), that's why it doesn't start on the first shot (no pressure , it bled down over time while the engine is off ).

You can verify, by installing a fuel pressure gauge. turn ignition ON   pressure will go to 60psi and slowly drop, on your vehicle it is  dropping considerably (bad regulator) (a good regulator will hold at no less than 50PSI)

REPLACE the fuel pressure regulator....(much much cheaper than a fuel pump) ...But I would find a qualified repair facility first, someone that CAN diagnose.

RE.    you NEED to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what you have.  also check the regulator by removing the vacuum hose from it to see if fuel leaks out of the hose.

if fuel leaks out, (bad regulator.)

  2. Have you changed the fuel filter?
