2000 dodge durango what could be causing it to overheat?

I jus changed the thermostat today in a 2000 dodge durango and it was staying cool at first but now its over heating again I poped the hood and noticed that the fan was turning but not as fast as it should could this be a relay or switch?

  1. recheck the coolant level in it when you change the thermostat in one you have to burp the system to get all of the air from it,so this may be whats causing that too happen,also check and make sure the reservoir is where it should be when the system burps its self sometimes it needs to pull the coolant back in to the engine,if its not their in the reservoir it cant do this,id check the relay on it also,that could be causing  a delay in the cooling fan,good luck with it.


  2. Make sure your reservoir tank is not empty.  Also, your radiator core may need to be flushed.  You need to bring it to a radiator specialist to have it removed, bathed in special chemicals that remove residue within the core so it lets the antifreeze flow freely and dissipate the heat.
