  1. Answer my question and maybe I can answer yours... What is a knock sensor? It should be easy to replace and I will do it for $50.00 if that will help you.

  2. The knock sensor is on the back of the block, under the intake manifold.  It is held on with a single bolt and be very careful you don't over-torque it when replacing.  12-14 foot pounds max.

It is easier to reach from underneath (while the car is on a lift) but it can be accessed from the top.  There is also a bracket which holds the wiring pigtail, that plugs into the engine wiring harness.

The knock sensor does just what it says, senses engine knock.  A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is applied as pressure to the piezoelectric element. This vibrational pressure is then converted into a voltage signal which is relayed to the ECM. If engine knocking occurs, ignition timing is retarded to suppress it.
