have a 2000 nissan frontier basically my a/c works fine as long as the truck is cool and works fine from point A to point B when i turn it off and start it back up the compressor will no longer kick in if i let it sit for a while and start it back up it works fine. i have had it in the shop four different times and they have replaced everything they could minus the compressor itself its fully charged with r134a ive also noticed the condensor fan dont seem to kick on either when the air is working or not. the shop i took it to said the only other thing it could be is the compressor. they say theres an internal switch that could be bad but u have to get a whole new compressor. i dont think they are jerking me around because they said they would put the compressor on and if that didnt fix it they wouldnt charge me. ive opted not to do that for the simple reason im tired of running my truck up to the shop with gas the way it is anyone out there have any suggestions?

  1. if the dealer will put a new compressor on for free then do it.

there is a switch mounted in the newer nissan compressors that will cause this problem.  the ac cooling fan on the newer nissans wont always come on when the compressor engauges.

my suggestion is let them fix it.
