Question:

2001 Chrysler LXI Battery Replacement?

My mom hasn't driven her LXI for about 6 months, and she just now got a battery. We were going to put the battery in, but we have a problem! It says in the manual that you DON'T need to take out the wheel, but simply take out the battery access panel from the inner fender shield. Does anyone have any ideas on how to put it in, and what the heck is the inner fender shield?

  1. The inner fender shield is located inside the wheel well and is attached to the inner fender and it will be a lot easier if you remove the tire.

Once the tire is removed or not remove the inner fender shield and disconnect the negative cable first then remove the battery hold down and after that you can pull the battery out to remove the positive cable.

Clean up the battery tray along with the battery cables and reverse to install.
