I have a 2001 Dodge dakota with a stock radio and i want to hook up my mp3 player to it, i bought a FM receiver and it sucks, so i want to see if there are any jacks to hook a cord to on the back of the radio. and if so how hard is it to get cords to it.

  1. you need to get an after market stero system that has an aux. cord hook up  and is mp3 compatible   unless there is a aux. cord or ipod/mp3 compatible on ur stock stereo,  but my guess is u need a new stero

  2. You can do this on of a few ways.  The best and easiest way is to replace Factory radio with an aftermarket one that has aux and with mp3 players being as popular as they are just about all of them come with one.  Got to a Circuit City and can find a basic one that has Aux plug right on the front and they also have free install on radio over hundred so just have to pay for the parts.  2nd way is cheaper but not a little more complicated.  they make interfaces for factory radios so that you can use an open port(changer, aux, sat etc.) as a means of getting audio into the factory radio.  the only problem is that its hit or miss as to if radio is candidate for such device.  you can go on some websites like www.pac-audio.com, www.peripheralelectronics.com, www.blitzsafe.com  and you put your car in and they will to show what's available.   3rd way is probably the least desirable but to still but than wireless FM transmitter and that is a WIRED FM Trasnmitter.  It usually getting audio from overhead DVD players into factory radios but technically you can use anything with the right adapter....the choice is yours
