Hi,

I have a 2001 Eclipse GT complete with the Infinity sound system.

Now I went to crutchfield.com and they told me the front door speakers are 6.75'', other sites are telling me 6.5''

What size speakers will fit these?

And does anyone know the specs on the infinity speakers that come stock in the GT's? They are pretty good but not the best.

  1. I would trust Crutchfield as they actually tear down and measure the allowed space.  Some sites will say 6.5" because most speakers come with an adapter plate of some sort to make it fit 6.75" holes.

The main problem with factory systems isn't necessarily the speakers, especially if it's Infinity.  Usually it's the limited power that the inferior amps used that cause the problem.  That and unoptimized crossovers.  You could look into replacing the factory amp with one that is more powerful ( not too much though), cleaner, and with more crossover capabilities that you can control.

Check back with Crutchfield and see what they have to offer.  Talk with a tech to get the specifics.
