  1. Your headgaskets are leaking externally. Do not confuse typical headgasket failure with Subaru box engines because it is not burning internally but simply leaking out due to pressure and gravity. The gasket is carbon and has a bad reaction with non Subaru antifreeze which causes the material to become soft and receede from the sealing surfaces. You could try the $4 sealer from a local dealer made for this problem (add it to the radiator and not the bottle). Try that first before having the headgaskets replaced. It comes in a small blue rectangular bottle with an orange cap and use Subaru coolant whenever possible - this has been proven in a court of law.
