2001 cobra mustang help please?

hey i need some help with this car im buying. can u tell me if this price is too high from a dealership A 2001 cobra 4.6. it has a procharger super charger , a magna flow exhaust. custom gauges, pedals, accents, handles , rims. a rear spoiler , tinted glass and all the basics that come with the cobra for 2001. it has 17343 miles and is 21852 dollars. NOW i talked to a car junky friend of mine and he thinks that the trans wont last over 20k because of the hp it will be putting out. can someone verify or help me with this? and ... is that price too much? and what should i do?

for that price you can buy a 2003-2004 terminator cobra with low miles and the motor and tranny are bullet proof

offer them 14k for it

Its a 7 year old car and its 21 grand. sounds a bit too high. Who owned it  and how was it driven? Sounds like its been raced a few times so it could have wear and tear you can't see and the tranny may be where the wear and tear is. Unless your a mechanic and have the knowledge to repair this beast, I'd think twice about it.

one quick way to figure out if it is a good price. go to autotrader.com or some other sites that sell cars. Price out the car you are looking at without all those aftermarket add-ons with around the same miles on it. Then go to various websites and price all the aftermarket parts and total it up. Don't forget the labor if you can't do it yourself. Then compare, either way you look at it a cobra is going to be raced no matter what aftermarket add-ons are on there.

I f I am right,It started life as a 281 cube 32 v jobby giving out around 320 bhp.But the best bit is its a "bute"of an engine boasting an ali block ali alloy pistons with shallow skirts and special friction reducing coatings on them. Forged steel crank--I recon that if it's had a good life so far then it should "sing" at upwards of 500 hp supercharged.the orignal lump was one of the most advanced engines ever built by an american manufacturer.

Make sure the T.C.S is working properly,because apart from being wicked expesive to replace,you will spend more time going sideways .

than frontways and evetually deadways.The rest of the build of the car is quite advanced as well so expesive to put right.

My synopsis-------If its not too much over 500bhp and is in good order ALL ROUND ,Its worth every penny of $20,500 .

Dealers are trying hard to get rid of older Mustangs, they're just not selling like they used to. First things, don't buy this car if you plan to drive it to work school etc. The gas will cost you lots. However this is a very powerful car and its not difficult to assume you'll be working on it and racing it.

As for the price, the other guy is right, 7 years is 7 years no matter how good the millage is and this generation of cobra is not collectible yet. It should be closer to 18k but if the car is very clean and has all of the maintenance records and if it comes with a decent warranty than 20k is reasonable.

Good luck on this; an '01 Cobra is a sick car and I'm sure you'll love it.
