  1. The primary problem is that the Grand Am was manufactured by General Motors Corporation. And for this reason and several more specific reasons given below, this vehicle should have been recycled several years ago.

    (1) AutoOnInfo.net accords the 2001 Pontiac Grand Am a Reliability Percentrank of .02 on a scale of 1.00 to 0.00. So only 2 to 4 automobiles are worse.

    (2) The Pontiac Grand Am is also on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the contenders for the worst model ever made, based on its multi-year reliability since 1987.

    (3) The Pontiac Grand Am is on AutoOnInfo.net's list of Automobiles with a Worst Engine (with a score of -.88 on a scale of 1.00 to -1.00).

    (4) The 2000 Pontiac Grand likely has been on Consumer Reports' lists of Used Cars to Avoid for every year since 2004; it certainly has been for the past 2 years.

    (5) AutoOnInfo.net's detailed reliability and durability studies suggest that a typical 7-year-old Pontiac is as troublesome to own as a typical 51-year-old Honda and a typical 36-year-old Toyota.

Most likely, exercising a little care in the selection of your next automobile will solve your problems. In this regard, it may be wise to consult Consumer Reports or AutoOnInfo.net.
