Question:

2001 mtd riding mower..stripped nuts trying to remove blades...frozen nuts...help...how to get off?

tryed to use hammer and pipe wrench...no luck...rounded the nuts .... used liquid wrench and let sit overnight...no luck...nuts frozen...what can i do

  1. It is hard to get off when your nuts are frozen !


  2. If you cant twist them off with vise grips then try cutting them with a hacksaw or cold chisel

  3. Have you tried heating them with a mini torch?  That my only idea.

  4. If possible try to file the nuts so you can get wrench on them nice and snug. Then take torch and heat them till they get almost orange then with gloves take wrench and hammer and tap and it should loosen. Make sure you  have everything ready because you have to move fast before it cools down. Of course you can only do one at a time so don't try heating them all at once. Hope it works.
