Question:

2002 Dodge Intrepid (High Pitch Whistle from Brake Pedal) ?

If anyone has experienced this or heard of this I would greatly appreciate your help. I have checked all of the vacuum lines to the brake booster and I have also checked inside the vehicle everything surrounding the brake pedal. I have brought the vehicle to the Dodge dealer and they can not seem to find the high pitch whistle. When it first began it would only whistle when you applied the brakes, now it is constant and very irritating (Please Help). I am an ex auto mechanic and I can't figure it out, the only thing I can think of is to replace the brake booster but this is very costly and I want to make sure that this is the actual problem.

Thank you.

  1. It's easy to check the booster. You apply a vacuum with a hand held vacuum pump to see if it holds vacuum. Very easy. Real mechanics don't change parts without checking them first. If it's not that....well, let's just say it's going to be. but check anyway. You can as a poor man test run engine, depress and release pedal at a quick pace. You should never run out of boost. You still need to check with the hand vac, but if the leak is bad, this will show it.

  2. you either got a busted vacuum or the  brake booster ,most of the time on those its the brake booster that causes that to happen,i got bad one on my truck right now,and its driving me nuts, but not much time to change it out,how i found mine was get down in the floor and mash on the brake pedal it didnt take long to find it that way, you,ll aso notice a slight flutter in the engine when its running if the booster is bad on it and you mash the brake pedal, good luck.

  3. oil it duhhh
