Question:

2002 Nissan Sentra SER Spec-v exhaust replacement?

Today my car failed the Pennsylvania state inspection due to severe rusting of my exhaust, basically it could fall off any day. I have a few questions about replacing it.

-What exhaust would anyone recommend for this car? I HATE the f**t pipe sound so I definitely do not want anything like that. I have been looking at the magnaflow seen here... http://www.planetmagnaflow.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=54

-Will the magnaflow exhaust pass the PA state inspection? What does PA require to pass inspection? I have read for some exhausts that you are supposed to keep the stock to put back on when you get inspected as the car will not pass with the aftermarket.

I am also looking into an OEM replacement, it all just depends on the money.

  1. My Spec V still has an intact stock exhaust.  I like how it sounds just fine so you could always go with factory parts.

I do know a guy with the NISMO (Nissan Motorsports) "S-Tune" stainless steel cat-back exhaust (#20100-RNB50) and it sounds nice (deep, not ricey) and is widely available through the Nissan dealer network or a number of aftermarket suppliers.  It will also add about 4HP at the wheels and since it is sold by Nissan you know it will fit correctly.  It typically sells for around $550 plus installation.  Anything after the catalytic converter will not change vehicle emissions so you should have no problems with this part.
