Ok I have a truck ram 1500 V8 and it give me 12 mpg or less sometimes like 10.5 mpg. But a Hemi truck runs around 13 mpg right so why isn't my truck eats more gas and its not a hemi yet? I did tune up and change oil every 3k and still get 11mpg average. Should I get a hemi instead or go for a charger 6.1L Hemi thats run the same mpg I'm getting? Challenger, Magnum, or charger Hemi?

  1. I have a 2008 RAM 1500 Hemi and I average 17 MPG and get 23 MPG on the highway. Mine is totally stock, air filter and all.

  2. You probably have a heavy foot and thats why you are getting those mpg numbers.

  3. You might have a heavy foot, also if i recall, the 2002 did not come with a hemi, so the Hemi is a newer motor, which willbe designed to save more gas.

I know the newer HEMI's come with MDS or Multi-Displacement System, which shuts down certain cylinders when they are not needed, which would also save gas

  4. either something is wrong [very wrong] with your truck or wrong with how you are figgering your MPG  it should get 16/17 hyway and 12/13 city..[if u keep ur foot out of it.
