2002 ford taurus door ajar will not shut off, how can this be fixed?

the sensor in my door is not registering the door is closed, so the door ajar light will flicker when i driving causing the automatic locks to cycle, or when the car is off the interior lights will cycle on and off. the door is SHUT. the taurus is a 2002 so there is the hall effect sensor in it, and not the switch so i can't spray wd-40, how else can i resolve this problem?

Door switch might be shorting out loose wire or connection.

There is a little plunger on the door frame that tells whether or not the door is open. Check this plunger. It may be faulty.
