2002 mustang spark plugs?

I am changing the the spark plugs on my 2002 v6 mustang and the spark plugs i took out look different than the ones the ford dealership gave me. Did they give me the wrong ones?

  1. They don't always look the same. They probably gave you updated ones, which would be better, but you may want to try to find some performance spark plugs from summit racing to go with the cold air intake and/or K&N filter you're getting.


  2. The main thing is called the "reach" it is the threaded portion of your plug. If the ones you are installing is longer do not install. Also if you bought them at a Ford dealer go lift up your hood and look at the emission sticker it will provide you with the motorcraft part number and gap specs.  

  3. No matter what kind of plugs you buy. Each car can use different kinds of plugs, as long as it is the same heat range of that plug. go to a part store like Autozone and they would tell you which kind you can use for your mustang. You could even use Spitfire and it would work.
