2003 Dodge Caravan has no heat unless accelerating?

I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan and I am wondering what's up with my heating. No heat comes through the vents unless I have my foot on the gas pedal and moving. It's been like this since last winter but I didn't get it fixed. I had it worked on and I am wondering if they could have knocked something loose.Thanks

  1. You'd better check the engine thermostat. Sounds like it's not there, or has failed. Your heater depends on proper thermostat operation.

  2. one of two things will cause that to happen ,if one gets very low on coolant it will do that and the other is if the water pump is getting worn out and not circulating the coolant real good they will also do this,most of the time its low on coolant and adding coolant will correct the problem,if it still does it ,its possible there's air in the system and it will have to be burped to get the air out,good luck with it.

  3. sounds like your low on antifreeze

    your owners manual will tell you where to fill, { if you dont know}
