Question:

2003 Fiesta 1.3 Tickover Problem.?

Had major service at 40,000 miles, everything replaced. Also had a dose of injector cleaner. After a few hundred miles nearly stalls occasionally when dropping to tickover at lights etc. Has actually stopped once. Runs beautifully otherwise. Can a Ford technician tell me if this problem is likely to be easily identified please?

  1. The most likely reason for this problem is that the idle speed control valve is not functioning correctly.

A replacement valve will cost around £35 from Ford direct and is a straight forward job to do at home.

    Ja.

  2. Maybe the idle speed has been set too low? this can be found near your carburettor!

Or your airflow meter or air filter may have gone funny? meaning it doesn't draw in enough when idling

sounds like a carb problem to me!?

I used to have a fiesta...their injection systems are shitee!

  3. just to back up jason, i would have definately thought the idle speed control valve.

On an electronic injection engine you cannot adjust idle speed without a laptop because it is on the ECU mapping.

This needs to go to a garage on a diagnsotics computer

  4. it could be somthing as simple as a vacume hose off,or even tickover to low..and mechanic should beable to fix  cheeply.
