I have a 2003 Eclipse that when first started and put into drive it jerks. It only does it when its first started and driven. Also about 2weeks ago my Service Engine Soon light came on. When I took it to AutoZone and had the free code tester done it came up that it was emission control which he said was either my gas cap or a vaccum hose. My husband replaced some of the hoses and it still has not went off. Does emission control have anything to do with the car jerking when put into drive?

Thankyou!

  1. by jerking if you mean the car itself it could be the motor mount, if you mean like a speed jerk, that could be your transmission. i don't think you have a vaccum modulator

on that year and model of vehicle. but if you did it would be a vaccum hose to the transmission assuming it's an automatic!  good luck!

  2. tranny is bad or is getting bad....soon your gonna feel that it does not pick up fast enogu when you floor it...or it takes forever to shift...

  3. There is a metal piece which I don't want to call a motor or transmission brace which runs from front to rear under the power train.

The rubber "mounts" attached to it are called roll stops. When the front roll stop gets old it separates and lets the motor and transmission twist too much when starting from a stop or shifting form a forward gear to reverse. It's not only a jerky ride, but will also ruin the exhaust flex pipe located down under the floorboard.

  4. i dont think so. there mite be something wrong with the gear it self. you mite wanna check out if all the gears are in place or not
