I don't want to destroy the bike. My CR 80 is to small and this 250 is to tall.

  1. cut the back spring

  2. you will be very hard pressed to lower the seat height by 4 inches!!!

Kuoba links will probably lower your bike 1.25 to 1.75 and you will need to loosen the triple clamps and slide the fork legs up equally to level the bike back out.  you might also be able to back off the lock nuts on the rear spring to increase the sag a bit too.  removing the seat cover then shaving the foam will also drop the bike a little bit.

http://www.koubalink.com/ but not sure they make lowering links for a 2003 RM250???

all total you might drop the seat 2-2.5 inches though.

  3. Just remove the seat cover and get an electric knife and trim the foam down.  if you are careful you can cut it neatly into two pieces.  Put the cover back on and staple back in place with a staple gun. Put the piece you have cut off somewhere safe and when you have grown you can then put it back on.

We have done this to our sons bike as he was racing the age group he needed to but was a bit short.  It works well.

  4. you won't be able to lower it that much.  you can drop the back 1 1/2 inches with a lowering link, have the forks shortened or slide them down some in the clamps, and shave the seat
