2004 Chev Impala Fuse Box/Lighter Problem

Question

Silly question, but how do you open the fuse box on a 2004 Chev Impala? We've tried tugging in different directions, feeling for a switch/button etc. Nothing seems to open it! Can't find anything online either, but it seems there are many people having the same problem. Also, the cig lighter in the car wont work. It's completely dead. Any help welcome. Thanks in advance.

i have never worked on an impala, but your lighter problem is probably due to a fuse blown. In some cars the radio wont work either if the cig lighter wont work. If this isnt the case then you may need to pull of the panel and see if any wires are detatched. If the lighter is loose then it can be the result of the retainer behind the panel causing an earth short, just tighten it up and it should work. As for the fuse box, just google it. you either have a blown fuse or the push in lighter is broken  take to a dealer and ask them they should show how with no chagre
