2004 Hyundai Sonata GLS ?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a used 2004 Hyundai Sonata GLS for 2500, the only probably is, is that it has 200000 miles on it . It has had 1 owner and has been serviced by the Hyundai dealership. It also just had a rebuilt transmission done on it just for the h**l of it. My best friends grandma is the one selling it, so I can trust him that she hasn't driven crazy with it on the road. Right now I'm driving a 1996 Ford (Found off road dead) Taurus which has a blown head gasket and is about to break down. I'm 19 and in college so I don't have much to spend.

I don't know too much about Hyundai's but I do know their better than Fords.

So, what I'm asking is, do you think I should buy the Sonata with that many miles, or should I look for a different vehicle?

Thank you for your help.

  1. 200.000 mile timing belt done or not

if it break  cost u more then the car i worth

there two belt .  2 idler .1 tensioner. water pump

make sure that all was change ask to see bills

as to be replace every 60.000 mile

  2. While I drive Hyundai cars and will say they are a good cars.. I would in no way pay 2500 for one with 200000 miles on it. There would be very few cars I would pay that much for with that many miles. For $2500 you should be able to find a car with less miles that would run well.

  3. www.kbb.com says the car is worth $5000, so $2500 seems like a bargain and the $2500 you save could buy you a replacement engine, rotors/pads and maybe struts/shocks for the car if all that needs replacing.  I would definitely have a mechanic look at the car and see what else may be wrong, but it seems like a good deal to me.  There are few cars on the road that will pass emissions for under $2500.  So, if it checks out with a mechanic then I'd buy it, unless you have $17000 for a new one.
