2004 Tomis CONSTANTA heads into semis of 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Volleyball news
The quarter final of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women was recently held in the Russian city of Krasnodar.
The two teams that competed against each other were the Romanian squad of 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA as well as the home team of Dinamo KRASNODAR. The resulting clash between the two sides went on for four sets at the end of which the victory went to the Romanians.
The defeat that the Romanians were able to hand out to the Russians was the second time in a period of one week. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores after the Romanians won the quarter final match: 25-23, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-22.
The head coach of the Romanian team, Darko Zakoc, shared his views in the following manner at the press conference held at the end of the match, “I am really happy with this win as well as with the performance of my players. We wanted to play better than
we had done in Romania and we did so. Dinamo is relying mainly on Tatyana Kosheleva but she can’t win a match all alone.”
On the other hand, the home team coach, Valery Losev, shared his views by making the following comments, “The Romanian team showed a great defense and this is hence the end of our European campaign for this year. The absence of our main setter had a clear
impact on the game.”
The first set of the game saw the Romanians take the lead at 6-0, an advantage that they were able to extend until the coming of the second time out at 16-10. The home team kept trailing behind all the way and it was only a matter of time before the guests
secured themselves the opening set of the game at 25-23.
The confidence generated from winning the first set of the game enabled the guests to start off the second set with energy and take the lead. The Romanians kept going on with speed and eventually bagged the second set too at 25-18.
The home team swung things in their favour in the third set as the guests did not back off in the fourth one and won it at 25-22.
