ok so i have a 2004 nissan sentra ser. I'm the only owner that bought my car with 3 miles. it know has 69,000. i bought it 10/10/03 and its a 04. so my question is i have taken my car to the dealership many occasions more that i can even count. and all they keep telling me is NOTHING wrong with your car..... after about 250.00 in hourly mechanic fees do the nissan dealership cost. anyhoo i have a warranty may i add up to 72,000 or 72 months which ever comes first. my decucktable is $50.00 each time. so yesterday i was driving and it only happens when i have my ac on or i have been running my car more than a hour. it have horriblele CLUNKING/ CLICKING sound when i make a left hand turn. but when you get under the car there it look warn. but not so bad to be making the sounds i described. what other steps can i take and is it my CV/joint? or boot? i keep telling myself that since i only have 3000 more miles untill my warrenty is up are they BULL/talking me (lieing) so that when my warrenty is up i have to pay 450.00 a cv joint. or am i hearing sounds that are normal?

  1. might try doing what I do buy an auto repair book for it and look up your noise in it. it sounds like it could be your steering knuckle or something around that area.

  2. A C.V. joint is not that hard to diagnosis. Take the car to a open area and turn the steering to the limit in one direction. Slowly accelerate while holding the steering at the limits. If you hear a popping that is a bad C.V. joint. Turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction and do this procedure again. This takes the joints to the limits of their range of motion and this is when you will hear them failing. Note; you don't need to go fast, just about 5mph will do the trick. If you look at the boots and see any cracks, that is an indicator that the boot is due to be changed. Just to let you know, an after market axle with all new parts on it sell for under $100.00 and installation is around $125.00.

  3. If it only happens on left turns the #1 culprit would be a right side CV axle.  If the boot isn't torn open though this can be very difficult to diagnose without removing the axle and if they removed it and find out its OK that would be on your dime.

I suppose somehow the boot on that CV shaft could "accidentally" tear open at some point in the next 3,000 miles which would be grounds for replacement of the shaft.  Those boots rip open all the time.

  4. your cv joint the boot protects it

if it only happens when engine is under an extra load im more curius

    do you feel the clicking?

it sounds like a cv joint
