I am trying to find the 'skyla' k2 snowboard from 2005/2006. is there any way to get old snowboard models besides ebay? Thanks! Any other suggestions on buying snowboards--does brand really matter, any good boards out there for under 400??

  1. Brand really does matter, but you don't have to go with the hype of the biggest names (Burton) either. Stay away from the junk (Morrow, Lamar, 5150, etc.) but other than that it is mostly personal preference. My favorite brands are Ride and K2, but here are some suggestions:

Freestyle / park: Rome, K2, Lib Tech, Gnu, Forum

    Freeride: Ride, K2, Burton, Nitro

There are a LOT of good boards out there for less than $400 - especially for women. These boards go on clearance all the time because they always have too many women's boards. I just saw a Ride Grace on clearance at Sports Authority for $150 and the Ride Vista was on sale also.

    Good Luck

  2. Brand doesn't really matter any more than the graphic.  Perhaps if you were a super advanced rider you would be able to feel the difference between a Rossi and a Lib Tech deck but for the average rider it's just hype and advertising.

I think you should be able to find a new deck for under $400, I bought a Forum Star for about $350 from a shop that's starting to get their "it's almost spring time" discounts rolling.

If you're looking for a board designed for girls try the Star, I find it has a really nice ride and isn't stupid expensive.
