Question:

2005 Civic - Brakes make noise when slowing down to a complete stop?

Had my car brakes done (front pads and rotors), after it was done. I had notice driving it for about a half hour that when I came to a complete stop or very low speeds when applying the brakes I would get this grinding but probably more scrapping noise in the front.

Thought that the pads were probably defective and returned them, flipped the rotors over and still have the same noise. When it’s raining or wet outside the noise doesn't happen right away until I assume the rotors and pads warm up. Anyone have any idea?

Other Info:

- Calipers looked a little seized and had a real hard time getting the pin out

- My old rotors looked a little burnt on one side

- SRS light came on 2 days ago but this can't be related.

-Noise is only in the front, and only happens when travelling slow speeds and applying the brakes.

  1. what do you mean, flipping the rotors over? it could be the calipers are not holding enough pressure on the pads or brake dust, even hard pads can do it too.

  2. you had the brakes done at a shop then you take it back it wasnt done right.. you cant see Calipers looked a little seized...old rotors looked a little burnt wasnt turn down or wasnt right. either way done was not done right so loner you wait harder it will be on new brakes and car

  3. posibly a stuck caliper slide pin

  4. HI

Are you sure its not the back??  Have you checked the back brakes for ware?? I know that front brakes ware sooner but maybe you need to check the back.. Also if a shop did the front I'd run it back to them and see if there is a problem it shouldn't cost you anything to get them rechecked..

    good luck

  5. You got me on that one, sorry.

  6. Hi ,If you installed the pads yourself, did you apply the lube to keep the pads free to move when brakes are applied. I assume they turned the rotors,if not ,that could be the problem.Good Luck
