My budget for a used car is 12000 dollars. I have an option of a 2005 honda civic and a 2007 Hyundai elantra. I am more inclined towards the Elantra as it is newer, and is more loaded with options, and has a better warranty, and less miles on it already. Please help me, thanks.

  1. 05 honda civic

  2. I agree with cjgt2, why go with the bland Civic(new bodystyle is better) which is inferior at that price then the Elantra.  Consumer Reports already has ranked the 2007 Elantra as dead even with the Civic and named it a best buy.  I would definitely go with the Elantra as you pointed out it has more features a warranty for many more years(the Civic's is only 3 years so about over), less miles and drives better while returning great gas mileage.

  3. The Elantra is a better car in every way except fuel economy but even that is only by 1 to 2 mpg. The 05 Civic is actually a previous generation model, while not bad, it's a generation behind the 07 Elantra. The Elantra is bigger, has a stronger engine and is more comfortable then the 05 Civic. If it's a Elantra SE or Limited it will have Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control.

Hyundai has improved so much the Elantra SE was named top pick in it's class http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23390986/

And also got a rating of  "excellent" for reliability by them as well.

If it's a SE or Limited Elantra grab it quick.

Times have changed. The Civic is good but it isn't the stand out it use to be.

  4. The Civic would be better.

Plus, if anything were to happen or you feel like spicing it up a bit, there's an endless supply of parts for those cars.

  5. The Civic will outlast the Hyundai, hands down. If this is your long term car, then get the Civic.

  6. CIVIC!!!!  Do not go w/ the hyundai.  Much better quality.  I don't care if the Civic has 200000 miles, buy it!  Or find a Corolla in the same price range.
