I have a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, nothing has ever been wrong with it. I was driving and stopped at a stop sign and for a split second I smelt a burnt plastic smell, then it went away and my air went to vent, the air still isn't working. Does anyone know what it might be?

  1. That happens alot on Hyundais...you are lucky the whole car didn't burn up....it was your expansion valve or your o*****e tube or the compressor itself....your warranty will not cover it....It happened to 2 of my friends....be ready to pony up about $2500 if it didn't burn up the housing thenit will be more.

  2. Might be the a/c compressor or a relay as they both get hot and have plastic components that would have a bad odor when melted.

If you are under 60,000 miles, I would suggest taking it in to your Hyundai dealer as it should be covered under the 5 year/ 60K warranty (even if you are not the original owner).
