Question:

2006 Seadoo RXP Maintenance and care?

Can someone please tell me some good tips for taking care of a 2006 Seadoo RXP?

I'm interested in knowing:

- Maintenance to do after riding it in fresh water / salt water.

- How often to bring it in for professional tuneups and what I should have done and how often.

Any other tips / things I should know I'd appreciate.

Thanks!

  1. Here is my list of maintenance organized by time:

    Shortly before every trip:

Inspect trailer hubs and fill bearing buddies with marine grade grease until they are full.

    Check trailer lights.

    After each day of use:

Shut gas off PWC while in the water and on the trailer, run gas out of the carb.

Check for excessive levels of water in the engine compartment, look for any unusual signs of damage or wear. Inspect the hull of the PWC for any cracks or significant wear on the hull. Deep scratches might need to be repaired with a gelcoat repair kit.

    Per occurance:

Flush every seawater use, whenever you suck up a bunch of sand or dirt accidently, or if the quality of water is very bad due to a lot of junk floating on top of the water (twigs, leaves, etc.) Rinse off the PWC's engine block with very low pressure water, drain water in the engine compartment, let dry, then spray WD-40 or a good corrision preventative spray over the engine.

    Monthly:

Check battery condition, electrical connections, clean battery terminals if corrosion, pull spark plugs and inspect them.

    End of Season:

There are tons of accurate do it yourself web sites on PWC winterizing, I'll list a few, but if you google it or another similar search engine, it is not hard to find a detailed walkthrough of the process.

Most recommend you buy a service manual for your PWC to know about the specific extra steps needed for your PWC model.
