2006 Stanley Cup winners Anaheim Ducks beat current league leaders Vancouver Canucks 4-3

The final game of Wednesday saw the currently league leaders and in form Vancouver Canucks play host to the Anaheim Ducks. The game took place at the Rogers Arena with a high chance of Canucks emerging as winners. However, things turned out to be totally
different with Anaheim Ducks coming up with a decent performance.
Anaheim Ducks led by a goal at the end of the first period and didn’t let the lead slip throughout the course of the entire game. Resultantly, Anaheim Ducks won the game 4-3 in the end despite late efforts by Vancouver Canucks to find a way back. Bobby Ryan,
winger of the Ducks was named the player of the game with his two important goals.
The 815th game of the season saw the away team; Anaheim Ducks silence the home crowd as they successfully scored within the first of the game. The goal was scored by Jason Blake from a brilliant flick shot.
This set the stage for a very entertaining period as both teams didn’t take even a step back. Attacks increased with each passing minute with both teams working very hard combining together and looking to score. There wasn’t lack of opportunities for the
teams to score but the miss hits and some good goalkeeping stopped the puck from finding the back of the net.
The puck was seen going to and fro on ice every now and then. Canucks had a clear cut chance to score which proved to be the last play of the period but the shot went just wide off target. Anaheim Ducks led 1-0 as the period ended. During the first 20 minutes
of play, Anaheim Ducks made 13 goal attempts while Vancouver Canucks made 10 goal attempts.
The second period saw Anaheim Ducks not making as many shots as in the first period but with they were more productive than their counter parts.
Anaheim Ducks waited for the right moments which came in the 4th minute and they capitalized from it and scored through Brandon McMillan to double their lead. Anaheim Ducks piled some pressure on the Canucks defence after the goal which saw the
defence crumbling once again as they scored their third goal through Bobby Ryan in the 5th minute.
Canucks started to come up with a few shots on goal as they knew that if there to have any chance of a comeback then they needed to score. The home team was successful in doing this as they scored through Daniel Sedin in the 8th minute from a
powerful long range shot.
The period saw both teams making numerous goal attempts but no goals were scored as Anaheim Ducks led 3-1. During the second period Anaheim Ducks made 4 goal attempts while Vancouver Canucks made 10 goal attempts.
Vancouver Canucks totally dominated the final period in terms of goals and shots on goal. They scored in the 6th minute through Alexandre Burrows to cut the lead. However, Anaheim Ducks scored in the very next minute to regain the two goals lead
with the goal scored by Bobby Ryan.
Canucks with their strong offence kept on attacking but unfortunately couldn’t score despite the several chances that came their way. Though they scored in the final minute through Ryan Kesler but it was a little too late as Anaheim Ducks won the game 4-3
as the period ended. During the final period Vancouver Canucks made 18 goal attempts while Anaheim Ducks made just 5 goal attempts.
