I went to two different shops and they tried to rebuild it but they couldnt, they said that they are missing a piece only the dealership has. I look online and i find a 2006 hyundai alternator for my car, should i get it or take it to the dealer since its still under warranty. Also when they rebuild a alternator do they replace any parts if so will that void my warranty. I was also wondering that it only took me 2 minutes to find a alternator they say that was from the manufacturer, why couldnt they do the same.

  1. Take it down to the dealership....Don't they repair it for free?? Have it done there....Leave the mechanics out of your hair for now...

  2. why would you take a car that is under warranty anywhere else but the place that will fix it for free...if it's a convenience issue like the closest dealer is 8 hours away, then I could see swapping out an alternator on your own otherwise go to the dealer.

  3. If it's still under warranty, take it back to the dealer.  That's what the warranty is for.

  4. The reason they said only the manufacturer can get it is because they charge more=more $$$.  Simply replacing your alternator or having it rebuilt will not void your warranty.  This is a very simple issue that you can easily solve by getting your alternator (2 minutes away).

  5. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.  you can void your warranty if you dont
