I'm thinking about buy the above in its "lt coupe" model. How has this car been rated and can i expect it to last? Also, it doesn't have ABS, will this be a problem since i live in North Dakota or is it something that I can work around? Thanks!

  1. The 2007 cobalt coupe is a safe and fun car to drive. These cars handle well and are built to last. There MPG numbers are also some of the best out there. The ECOTEC engine is also one of the best power plants for a car that size.As far as the not having ABS in north dakota is would be a great advantage to have this system due to the low weight of the cobalt. The ABS system on my car has saved my life a few times on snow and ice covered roads.Best of luck.

  2. It is likely one of the worst. The 2008 Cobalt is on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the Worst Automobiles of 2008 and the 2005 and the 2006 Cobalts are on Consumer Reports' list of Used Cars to Avoid. It hasn't been around long enough to be on Consumer Reports' Worst of the Worst, but when it has been it may be on this GM-dominated list as well.

It is likely best to remember that AutoOnInfo.net's detailed reliability/durability studies suggest that a 3-year-old Chevrolet will likely be as troublesome to own as a 19-year-old Toyota and a 26-year-old Honda and a 7-year-old Chevrolet will likely be as troublesome to own as a 34-year-old Toyota and a 48-year-old Honda.

Also, the site manager of AutoOnInfo.net, who lives somewhere in northwestern Minnesota, still enjoys his 1984 Toyota Corolla with more than 500,000 miles and an original engine and air conditioner (but the transmission was replaced at 479,000 miles, per an article on the site).
