Question:

2007 Ford F-150 ticking noise

I have a 2007 F-150, and in the last month, Ive been hearing this ticking noise. It doesn't do it when it in idle position, only when I'm on the interstate or going 55mph or more. I kind of think it may be metal hitting metal, but I cant find anything other than the hood latch being loose. I tried removing the tire to see if my sensor is loose, and I don't hear anything moving around.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Send it to a mechanic

  2. well first it could be an exhaust leak on the exhaust manifold. second the reason it makes the noise at 55ish mph is because of the certain vibration of the tires at that speed makes the noise. that means something could be loose. there are a lot of parts on a vehicle so occasionally when you have time and the engine is cold open the hood and touch or move as many parts as you can to try to replicate the noise. then go underneath the truck and do the same. if you can't find anything then its something you can't get to and thats when you take it to a service FORD dealership and have them look at it.

  3. probably broken

  4. It's not a truck, it's a BOMB!

  5. Bring it to another Ford dealer preferably where you bought it if you didn't...

I'd check for aftermarket hubcaps that many dealers put on the trucks to beautify them up (base models) that make noises goign down the highway

You won't hear the sensors loose in a tire going down the highway.. too low in frequency to be heard.

but without hearing the noise it's hard to pinpoint in words.. cranking on the rubber bumpers up under the hood (they s***w up and down) will re leave some noises if too loose

And if it's a nise covered by the warranty, they must cover it (basically wear items aren't)

  6. Bring your truck to a authorized Ford dealer and have a mechanic check it out
