It depends on how you drive your car and how you care for the car. Do you intend to track or autoX the car? Are you going to use it as a daily driver? The MINI is covered like many other autos and you can purchase additional coverage after the enitial warrenty is up. However, if you install after market parts you may not be covered. As for price it all depends on what breaks down. If you take it to the dealer it would be at BMW rates slightly above the big 3's.
