Okay so we had a really really bad hail storm yesturday and my beautiful cadillac srx was sitting out in an airport parking lot due to dropping my girlfriend off for her flight to vegas. I waited because it was storming bad out there and when it finally let up 1 hr later i went to leave and my panaramic moonroof was shatterd...i almost pissed my pants when i opend the door. everything was wet. I then called for a tow because i was not going to drive it home because i was headed where the storm was and i didnt want to get wet. Most of the electronics work execpt my nav system and back seat dvd were toast but all the power windows ect. work. The question i have is that is the isurance company going to file a loss on this car due to water damage or are they going to fix it??? I really want to keep it.

  1. Im pretty sure they'll fix it. After all, technically it isn't water damage, it was FROZEN water damage. And you did everything in your power to protect your car and the hail was just to strong. I hope your insurance agency is considerate because there are ways for insurance companys to snake around a predicament like this. I would talk to them and explain everything like you did here, and I'm 95% sure they'll understand and fix it for you!

  2. The hail/water damage you have should not total out a vehicle worth as much as yours is.

The only time you see a car totaled due to water is from flooding. If the engine and wiring harness get water in them they are impossible to fix right.

In your case they should replace or repair the electronics or seats and you'll be back on the road.

    Good Luck

  3. Not trying to be smart here but, why don't you ask your insurance agent?
