I will try to be as detailed as can be with this problem

It doesn't do it every time, but when ever the car is going and i downshift to first gear, the car "hops" or "jumps" when i press the gas again. i can be rolling in first gear and just with the slightest hit of the gas the car jumps. kinda like when you stall the car, only its a bigger jump and longer. happens in second gear too, just not as obvious.

I took it to the dealer and they said it was NORMAL. I just don't buy i. my previous cars didn't do the same thing.

any ideas?

  1. Yes, the "problem" you're describing is completely normal. The New body style mustang uses an electric throttle control, meaning the motor has better and quicker throttle response than previous models. The hop or jump you're feeling is a result of better throttle response, i.e. a lack of a hesitation.

  2. If it's still under warranty and the dealer won't help to your satisfaction ask them for the number for the district representative and they will jump through hoops for you.

  3. it could be that u have a gear in the transmissionis grinding or it could be that it is slipping.
